The screen used for projecting an image from a projector (that
is placed within the room) is called a front projection screen.
The surface material used in the projection screen is the most
important aspect. The reflectance of the surface would determine
if the image would be uniform or if there would be a ‘hot
spot’. The gain of the screen can make the image look brighter.
However, it is important to note that the gain of the screen and
the viewing angle are inversely proportional. Given the brightness
levels of the current projectors, the viewing angle should be
given a priority.
The advent of the optical screens is revolutionizing this product
category. These screens are known to increase the contrast upto
10 times and the brightness upto 2 times.
